In this IPTV related study, which was kindly supported by Nokia Siemens Networks, thebrainbehind assesses the most relevant IPTV rollouts around the globe, as well as a number of the most interesting video streaming websites. In both cases, business models have been analysed in terms of product offer and ease of use and the range of content that is available, as well as the usability of the services.

Thebrainbehind has created an overview of the IPTV markets in Europe, North America and Asia, considering IPTV marketing, up-selling opportunities for telcos around triple and quadruple play and new forms of advertising. In co-operation with our international partners we have described the evolution of rights windows and taken a closer look at interesting web-based platforms contributing to the progress of Web 2.0 development, including Joost, Brightcove and others.

Thebrainbehind points out the possibilities for content owners to make their video content accessible to a broader audience. The major challenge is to identify whether the great deal is teaming up with IPTV operators or if content owners should create their own streaming solutions. Both have plus points and down sides, and need to be thought through carefully before making a decision on which solution to adopt. The best practice benchmark analysis will support decision makers to take the right steps in this promising market.
