In 1916, the Mitteleuropaische Schiaf- und Speisewagen Aktiengesellschaft (Cetrnal European Sleeping and Restuarant Car Company) (MITROPA AG for short) was founded in Berlin, The well known highlights of the 1920's, were the luxury trains; "Scandinavian-Swiss Express", "London-Holland-Munich Express", and the London Berlin Express". Very soon the whole of Europe was flooded by the MITROPA company. Thier sleeping cars were well known as the most comfortable in the world. By 1944, MITROPA had 596 sleeping and restaurant cars in service.
