The track layout included in this set can be extended further by the purchase of Hornby's own series of Track Extension Packs. The following may be used in sequence :
R8222: Track Extension Pack B, then
R8223: Track Extension Pack C
With Track Extension Pack C, a double track oval is provided. If it is required to operate more than one train at the same time, an additional transformer (C990), controller (R965) and power connecting clip (R602) will be required.
Alternatively, if only one train is to be used, then additional link wires with a pair of connecting clips (R8201) will be required.
Further track extension can be provided by adding
R8224: Track Extension Pack D
With this pack, the track layout shown on the Midimat Trackmat included with this set is completed.
Further extension can be provided by changing the Track Mat to R8217 (1800 x 1200mm) and using the following packs:
R8225: Track Extension Pack E, then
R8226: Track Extension Pack F
PLEASE ENSURE YOU USE THE CORRECT Rxxx SERIES NUMBERS QUOTED ABOVE WHEN ORDERING
The layout may also be extended to the customer's own design if the Track Mat is not used.

It can be argued that in the 1920s and 30s the British railways network was in its heyday. Small locomotives were used with some of the railway companies more mature rolling stock on small branch lines and because of their age and in some cases dishevelled appearance, it is more than likely that at least one of these trains would have been nick named “Old Smoky”! |
