Design and fitting
At the heart of the polished steel X-Paste is a superbly efficient pump which only an engineer as accomplished as Stewart Robertson could have designed. The X-Paste accepts all popular makes and sizes of toothpaste tube and the unique pump action makes sure every last drop of paste is squeezed from the tube.
All moving parts have been designed to work simply and efficiently and be easy to keep clean. Stewart was also determined that even people with no DIY skills should be able to fit the X-Paste – and that it could be moved from one position to another without having to call in the decorators. Using the ‘No-Drill’ option it takes less than five minutes to install the dispenser to a smooth surface like a mirror or glazed tiles, with the Super-Suction cups supplied. And as little time to re-position it. Conventional screw and wallplug fittings are also supplied.
Questions we have thought of answers to!
X-Paste has been years in research and development as the prototypes were honed to perfection. Our friends smile a lot to show off their white teeth - and because they know their helpful suggestions contributed to your X-Paste. They also had a few questions.
Will it take every size and type of tube?
It’s designed to. An American friend showed us a format the size of small house, but X-Paste can cope. Just roll over the tube as much as you can. The cover may not sit snugly to start with, but as the toothpaste is sucked out, the cover will return to its correct position.
How do I change the tube?
Easy. It really is. Slide the cover off. Pull the empty tube up and out (marvelling at just how empty it is!). Take the new tube, remove its cap, moisten the threads of the nozzle and ease it into the X-Pump as far as it will go. Don’t remove the old tube until you have a replacement to hand, else paste left in the pump can harden.
You could use the opportunity to remove the pump and guide and clean them. That gives you the option of fitting the tube into the X-Pump before you reassemble, which we find slightly easier especially with larger tubes.
Help! My X-Paste isn’t working! What do I do?
There’s very little to go wrong, so it’ll be easy to sort out.
- Check that the nozzle of the toothpaste tube is fitted properly into the X-Pump. No screw thread should be visible. Make sure there’s no hardened paste in the neck of the tube or in the pump.
- If you’ve recently changed a tube or cleaned your X-Paste, check again there is no hardened paste left in the toothpaste tube itself or in the X-Pump.
To remove hardened paste
From the toothpaste tube: Squeeze (carefully!) over a basin.
From the X-Pump: Put the X-Paste Pump into a cup of warm water and leave it for two hours. This will soften any hardened paste which can then be removed by operating the pump by hand and flushing it through with clean water.
Is my X-Paste guaranteed to work?
Your X-Paste comes with a 12-month warranty on top of any legal rights you have a consumer. To clean your X-Paste, follow the simple guide on the fitting instructions sheet that comes with your X-Paste. Please do NOT take the X-Pump to pieces to see how it works. It’s a sealed unit not designed to be disassembled, and if you do, you’ll invalidate your warranty. Just take our word for it: it works by magic – made possible thanks to a lot of research, development and testing.
